Cute Vehicles
Some vehicles make my pupils dilate. They have a certain je ne sais car. I've built this shrine to collect some of the cute vehicles I come across in my day to day life.
I'll start with this shoe looking thing I saw in Switzerland. It's a CityEl, a three-wheeled electric car. While researching it I found out it opens like this, madness.
I saw this baby at the Berlin Museum for Communication, which is a really cool museum btw. They had a bunch of models of past Deutsche Bundespost (German Federal Post) vehicles, and this was my favourite. It's a BMW Isetta and was used by the German Post from 1955-1963 (according to the label). It's extremely bubbly and mishapen and- okay I was just now googling the Isetta and it's so small and cute I cannot believe it...
As you can see its face just opens up which I think looks very bizarre and cute, there was also pickup versions of the Isetta which I think are totally ridiculous and I really wish I could see them bumbling around the streets.
Another wonderful bubblecar which I saw driving its way down the road pressumably to some kind of old car fair, the Messerschmitt KR200! It's so damn tiny. I love its wideset front legs that kind of give its face a cute chubby cheek look.
I feel like you can really tell that it was designed by someone used to designing airplanes. Like that is a cockpit. It also opens up by tipping its hat. I cannot believe you can fit two people in this thing.
Square Cars
I'm obsesssssed with boxy cars, but I know they don't get made these days because they're un-aerodynamic (and not en vogue). Still, whenever I see one I write down the make and model, just in case it's a decently modern car that wouldn't be a huge pain to maintain (p.s I can't drive yet). Keeping only to cars I've spotted irl bc theres too many cute square classic cars. Pictures mostly aren't mine so I hope I've labelled them correctly.
Fiat Fiorino
Mercedes 200 So hard to find a normal picture of a mercedes
Mercedes 250c Saw one in this butter yellow colour
VW Golf MK1
Piaggio Porter
Daihatsu Delta camper
Toyota Townace
Ford Laser GL
Mazda Astina 323
Absolutely stunning train I saw in Switzerland. I actually dont't know anything about trains so I can't ID it, but it has some kind of track construction job I think. It has little pincers on its belly like tiny crab claws (see middle image below). I find its little round eyes and mandibles particularly charming. I want to see its little pincers at work and also to ride it.
I love that aspect of industrial vehicle design which you can see in the left image - lots of different information printed on the body of the train.
